War films

War films are not always showing the war per se - often the main theme is the influence of the conflict on lives of people involved, but also their families and friends. War is seldom a local thing - the trauma, the pain, the death they put their mark on people from around the world.

Joint production of USA and Japan showing the events that preceded the attack on Pearl Harbor on both sides of future conflict.

The year is 1941. The Japanese canít agree with the United States on several political issues, which in minds of Japanese generals meand it is time to start the war. In the event of failure of the diplomatic talks they are preparing a surprise attack on the American base at Pearl Harbor. US intelligence reports warn the officials about the danger, but very few believe that the threat is real. US military intelligence broke the Japanese secret codes and gathers the informations from the contents of radiograms. They already know that all the negotiations is just game for Japan to gain some time before they will be ready to take military steps. However, Colonel Bratton canít warn commanders of Hawaii or other bases - this would give away the information that Americans have breached the code, but also the commanders of the base are not on the list of cleared recipient o secret informations. Important data is halted by the bureaucratic machine, which gives the enemy the time they need. Meanwhile group of six aircraft carriers is closing to Hawaii...

Film presents the events that lead to United States involvement in World War 2 on Pacific - the famous (or infamous) attack on Pearl Harbor, where Japanese were trying to knock out the Pacific Fleet hoping this will force USA to return to negotiations over division of the colonies in the area. The film is co-production of United States and Japan with plenty of stars involved on both sides, a lot of spectacular scenes filmed using the real planes of the era. Very good war film that presents one of the most important and most spectaculare operations of World War 2.
